READING, Pa. — The Portland Sea Dogs swept the Reading Fightin’ Phils for the first time ever in Reading with a 7-4 Eastern League baseball victory on Thursday afternoon at First Energy Stadium.

Anthony Ranaudo (4-0) earned his fourth straight win. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits. He struck out four and walked one batter.

Brock Huntzinger came on in the bottom of the ninth and earned his sixth save of the season.

Keith Couch pitched 2.2 innings and gave up two runs. Daniel Bard struggled in onethird of an inning, issuing two walks and two wild pitches before giving way to Huntzinger.

Xander Bogaerts hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the first inning. An RBI double from Bogaerts in the third inning put Portland in the lead 2-0. Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Portland added to its lead in the fifth on a solo home run by Christian Vazquez.

The Sea Dogs made it 5-0 in the fifth following a Shannon Wilkerson sacrifice fly, and Portland added its final two runs on sacrifice flyballs by Alberto Rosario and Derrik Gibson.

The Sea Dogs return home tonight for a six-game homestand, beginning with the New Britain Rock Cats. Lefty Drake Britton (2-2, 4.44 ERA) takes the mound in the first game of the series.
