AUGUSTA (AP) — Three abortion bills are drawing fire from women legislators and abortion rights activists.

At a news conference this morning, Sen. Linda Valentino, D-Saco, chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee; Rep. Megan Rochelo, D-Biddeford; and Rep. Jennifer DeChant, DBath, condemned the bills as “anti-choice.” One bill bolsters a law requiring informed consent about information; one allows a wrongful-death cause of action for the death of an unborn child; one strengthens consent laws for abortions performed on minors and incapacitated people.
