To the Editor:

The spaghetti is all consumed. The treasures are all gone to good homes, and the Wiscasset Feed Our Scholars Weekend Food Backpack Initiative coffers are more than $3,000 richer, thanks to all the fine business people of Wiscasset and beyond.

Because of everyone involved, 12 Wiscasset children with food insecurities will be eating weekend meals during the 2013-14 school year.

We would like to publicly thank Ames, Treats and Kidz Closet for selling tickets, as well as for donating items for the silent auction.

Thank you, too, to the many restaurants who donated gift certificates: LeGarage, Sarah’s, Red’s Eats, Mike’s Log Cabin, Miss Wiscasset Diner, Hunter’s Breakfast, Sea Basket, Montsweag Roadhouse, Davis Island Grill, Marketplace Café, Thai Golden, Golden Wok and Sully’s Incredible Dogs.

Immense gratitude for all her fine video and social media abilities goes to Lee Arnott of Sweet Thunder Productions who donated her skills to give the Initiative credibility. Not to be overlooked, thanks needs to be meted out to all the wonderful people who donated their time and dinner components—and particularly the wide array of desserts—allowing for every cent that was collected to be put towards purchasing food packets for kids suffering from food insecurity.
