On average, one dish or gelato pint was served every 46 seconds for the entire 12- hour event. We expect to top those numbers this year, with hopes to increase the center’s hours and programming!
The Scoop-a-Thon will be held during the store’s regular hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. Volunteers, including principals, teachers, students, town officials, and Bowdoin College students and administrators will serve as celebrity scoopers throughout the event. For a schedule of celebrity scoopers, visit gelatofiasco.com. Additionally there will be sidewalk entertainment, a 50/50 raffle and a huffy bicycle raffle.
And NEW this year — Brunswick seniors come buy gelato at 1 p.m. and Topsham/ Harpswell seniors come at 2 p.m. to see who buys the most in their hour.
Come buy gelato or coffee. The Gelato Fiasco will donate all sales beyond the average for a similar Wednesday. Therefore, every purchase counts.
Sponsors this year are Maine Optometry, P.A.; The Little Dog Coffee Shop; The Big Top Deli; Morning Glory Natural Foods; El Camino; Little Tokyo; Paper Trails; Waterfront Maine; and Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
