A man dubbed the North Pond Hermit was carrying an assortment of food items and $395 in cash when arrested this month after allegedly breaking into a camp for people with special needs.

A Maine State Police affidavit lists the items possessed by Christopher Knight, 47, at the time of his arrest, including keys, pliers, electrical tape, a watch, a baseball hat, coffee, hamburger patties, chicken nuggets, bacon, cheese, corn syrup, potato chips and marshmallows.

Police say Knight, who is in jail, may have committed as many as 1,000 burglaries fwhile living for 27 years at a campsite in the woods.
