After two weeks of public hearings on its proposed 2013- 14 budget, the School Administrative District 75 Board of Directors will hear a presentation on the final draft tonight during its meeting at Mt. Ararat High School.
The school board is scheduled to consider granting formal budget approval at its April 25 meeting.
Also tonight, SAD 75 Superintendent Brad Smith will report on a meeting with John D’Anieri, head of the Harpswell Coastal Academy charter school, which is to open in Harpswell in September.
Smith also will brief the board about a meeting with Anthem, the district’s health insurance provider.
The board is being asked to accept the resignations of teachers and support staff who have indicated they intend to retire; and to grant a retirement incentive to those eligible.
These individuals include Richard Bartlett, Mt. Ararat High School social studies teacher; Claudette Brassil , Mt. Ararat High School English teacher; Michael Estes , Bowdoin Central School grade 4 teacher; Phoebe Fraser, educational technician Mt. Ararat Middle School; Jackie Merrill, bus driver; Deborah Smith, Harpswell Community School grade 3 teacher; Leon Smith, Mt. Ararat Middle School grade 6 math and social studies teacher; Kevin Ridge, Williams-Cone School grade 5 teacher; Debra Patterson, Woodside Elementary School speech pathologist; Doreen Young, Bowdoinham Community School grade 1 teacher; and Ruth Horwitch, educational technician Mt. Ararat Middle School.
The school board has been asked to consider a request from Genevieve L. Tailleux, a middle- and high-school foreign language teacher, for an unpaid half-year leave of absence in 2013-14; and for a 365-day leave of absence starting May 3 for Don Gray, Mt. Ararat High School assistant principal, to enable him to fulfill his recall to active duty with the U.S. Navy.
The school board will also hear a report on the district’s progress toward the board’s 2012-13 goals.
An executive session is scheduled so the board can discuss pending litigation.
The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Ararat High School in Room 201.
