ELLSWORTH (AP) — Maine police have arrested two Florida residents authorities say were selling prescription painkillers in the Ellsworth area.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says 26-year-old John Haddad and 45-year-old Kelly Berkwitz-Guiterrez were arrested Tuesday and charged with trafficking in oxycodone following a sixmonth investigation.
Police say an undercover agent bought 84 pills from Haddad on Monday for more than $3,000.
The agency says in a statement that a search of the Hollywood, Fla., couple’s hotel room yielded an additional 248 oxycodone pills and nearly $1,800 in cash, as well as records of transactions.
