WOOLWICH
A public hearing slated for Wednesday regarding a referendum on Regional School Unit 1 was postponed.
The hearing was to be held at Woolwich Central School. It has not yet been rescheduled.
The other two hearings on the new RSU 1 cost-sharing plan are scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, at Bath Middle School; and Tuesday, March 12, at West Bath School. Both meetings begin at 6 p.m.
RSU 1 has set March 19 as the date for a referendum vote on the proposed new costsharing formula The vote will be held in the five towns that comprise RSU 1 — Arrowsic, Bath, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich.
If passed by a majority of the voters, the new plan will go into effect for the 2013-14 school year.
The district budget referendum vote is scheduled for June 4.
The district’s shifting costsharing formula has pitted member towns against each other in court. West Bath filed suit last month seeking $1.9 million in costs it says it is owed under a prior formula.
