ANDOVER, Mass — The Trinity College men’s hockey team converted on four power plays to knock off fourthranked Bowdoin, 10-5, in a rescheduled game played at the Brooks School Monday evening.

The Polar Bears, who clinched the NESCAC’s top seed this past weekend, ended their regular season with a mark of 19-3-2 (13-3-1 NESCAC), finishing with 19 regular-season wins for the first time since the 1988-89 campaign. Trinity wrapped up its campaign at 14-6-3 (11-4- 3 NESCAC) and clinched the third seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.

Trinity and Bowdoin traded power-play goals in the opening frame. Zackary Lombardi scored at 6:58 for the Bantams, while Timothy McGarry scored with under five minutes remaining to even the score at 1-1.

Trinity answered quickly with a pair of goals, the first coming just 36 seconds after McGarry’s and another off a power-play opportunity.

Bowdoin closed within one goal, making the score 3-2 at 3:49 of the second frame. Tim Coffey provided Bowdoin the second goal of the night before Trinity ran away with three consecutive scores.

A pair of man-up goals at 6:40 and 11:05 allowed the Bantams to lead the Polar Bears 5-2, before John Hawkrig added another under two minutes later. Ollie Koo provided some offense with a goal as the final second ticked off the clock.

Trinity carried its 6-3 lead into the final period, but wasted no time before adding another goal. The Bantams rattled off three goals over the opening five minutes to pad the score 9-3.

Bowdoin scored its only consecutive goals of the evening off the sticks of Daniel Weiniger at 5:56 and Robert Toczylowski at 7:08. Andrew Tallet tallied the final goal of the evening for Trinity.

Bowdoin outshot Trinity 47- 44, but the Bantams went 4-of- 5 on the power play.

All three Bowdoin goalies saw time in net, with Max Fenkell recording 22 saves, Steve Messina stopping 10 and Connor Shannon blocking two. Benjamin Coulthard had 42 saves in the win.

Bowdoin begins its postseason play on Saturday against No. 8 Hamilton College at Sidney J. Watson Arena. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.

The Polar Bear women will be also be in action on Saturday at home, facing-off against No. 7 Wesleyan. Tickets are required for admission, and the cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children 18 and under. Bowdoin students are free with identification, but a ticket is required.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 8 a.m. on Thursday in the Bowdoin Athletic Department Office on the second floor of the Peter Buck Center.

Bowdoin Nordic

The Bowdoin College Nordic ski team earned a ninth-place finish at the Middlebury Carnival this weekend in Vermont.

Competing at the Rikert Touring Center, the Polar Bears racked up 186 points to extend their string of top-10 Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association finishes to four consecutive carnivals.

Kaitlynn Miller again led the way for Bowdoin with a ninth-place individual finish in the women’s 5K classic on Friday (16:24.7). She followed it up with 13th-place in Saturday’s 15K mass start freestyle (42:21.3).

Hannah Wright had a strong 18th-place showing in the 5K classic (17:07.7) and carded a 30th-place finish in the freestyle event (44:19.3).

Kevin Hoose took the top individual finish for the men in weekend action, earning a 30th-place showing in Saturday’s 20K mass start (42:21.3). He also earned a 41st-place showing in Friday’s 10K classic (42:21.3). James Crimp was Bowdoin’s top finisher in the classic race, taking 33rd overall (28:30.4).

Bowdoin is scheduled to wrap up its EISA season next weekend with the EISA Championship/Bates Carnival at Black Mountain in Rumford.

Women’s swimming

The Polar Bears set several school records and posted numerous season-best times in hosting the NESCAC Championships at Greason Pool this weekend.

Senior Katherine Foley posted the best individual results of the weekend for the Polar Bears, setting three school records and earning a pair of top finishes. She finished second overall in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:21.04), breaking her own record of 10:33 set earlier this season. Additionally, she shattered the school record in the 1,650 freestyle (17:25.69), finishing fourth in the race and breaking the mark that stood since 1995 (Muffy Merrick). She also broke her own school record in the 500 freestyle (5:01.27) that she established last year.

First-year Mariah Reading also set a school record in the 50 butterfly, posting a time of 26.50 to edge the mark set by teammate Kelsey Goodwin last year.

Bowdoin also established four school records in the relay events. The most impressive time was the 7:39.65 standard in the 800- free relay set by Lela Garner, Bridget Killian, Sarah Hirschfeld and Foley that broke last year’s mark by 10 seconds.

Bowdoin also set program marks in the 200-medley relay (1:48.79 by Teri Faller, Helen Newton, Reading and Kaley Kokomoor), the 200-free relay (1:37.62 by Garner, Patty Boyer, Faller and Kokomoor) and 400-free relay (3:31.56 by Kokomoor, Killian, Garner and Foley).
