To the Editor:
I read with dismay the Jan. 30 editorial “State must reject bid to ‘save’ Parkview.”
This editorial merely continues Mid Coast’s long running attempts to disparage Parkview’s contributions of care and service for its patients and to the community. The editorial also denigrates Parkview’s affiliation with Central Maine Hospital in Lewiston, implying this partnership cannot provide necessary and appropriate care.
It would appear Mid Coast has overbuilt its complex and its staffing, and would like to quash the Parkview-Central Maine coalition to have those resources diverted to Mid Coast’s balance sheets.
Parkview is a truly community based hospital, and an asset to Brunswick. I have received excellent inpatient and outpatient services at Parkview for nearly 50 years, and certainly plan to continue my medical care under the auspices of Parkview.
Yes, the bumper sticker says it all: Take me to Parkview!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
