BRUNSWICK — Gillian Ford scored a power-play goal in overtime to lift the fourthseeded Brunswick High School girls ice hockey team to a 2-1 Eastern quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Winslow on Thursday at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

The win, the Dragons’ second playoff victory in team history, advances Brunswick to Saturday’s Eastern semifinals against No. 1 Greely at the Family Ice Center in Falmouth. The Rangers eliminated the Dragons in last season’s Eastern finals.

“We worked more on the power play during our last practice than we had all season and it paid off,” said Brunswick coach Bill Bodwell after his team improved to 8- 11.

Ford received a pass from Eliza Brooks and sent a wrist shot through traffic and into the net for the victory just 1:05 into the extra session.

Winslow (5-11-3) jumped on top 1-0 on a Miranda Gagne goal at 1:14 of the second period.

But, Brunswick tied it when Tess Cassidy set up Ashley Hartford with 2:28 remaining in the middle frame.

Brunswick outshot Winslow 36-16. Claire Mendes had 15 saves for the win, while Winslow netminder Jessica Cain made 34 stops.

Eric Stuckey had a hat trick, and Ben Bishop scored two goals and assisted on one as Mt. Ararat/Lisbon rolled past Windham/Sacopee Valley on Wednesday.

The Eagles (6-9 and scheduled to visit Bonny Eagle on Saturday) received a goal each from Logan McGuire, Jason Kenney, Sean Bolduc, Austin Fournier and Bru Abreu, with McGuire, Allan Leech and Evan Tome dishing out two assists apiece. Brett Gravel and Shane Cyr had one heper each.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon held a 54-17 shots advantage. Eagles goaltender Zach O’Connor turned aside all 17 shots he faced for the shutout.
