PORTLAND — Helen G. Thibodeau, 90, of Portland Center for Assisted Living and formerly of Bath died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Gardiner on May 19, 1922, a daughter of Edward and Florence (Lashow) Gallant.

She attended Gardiner schools and graduated from Gardiner High School in 1940. She attended Kennebec School of Commerce in Augusta and on March 2, 1946 she married Clayton “Tib” R. Thibodeau. She was employed at Brunswick Naval Air Station and at Dr. Wade’s Dentist Office in Bath for many years. She later assisted her husband Clayton doing accounting for his work.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath.

She was an avid reader, enjoying her time at the library, boating, friends, the Red Sox, her black labs and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton R. Thibodeau on March 10, 1995 and a sister, Christine Hersom on December 18, 1958.

She is survived by one sister, June Goggin and her husband Lloyd of Oxford, Ohio, four nieces, Pam Robinson, Pat Robles, Penny Forker, and Jane Hersom Fortier, four nephews, Paul Goggin, Larry Hersom, Jimmy Hersom and Johnny Hersom and many great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln Street, Bath. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. Memorial contributions may be made to Patten Free Library, 33 Summer Street, Bath, 04530.
