PORTLAND (AP) — Total spending for Maine’s U.S. Senate campaign topped $11 million, with more than half of that attributed to outside groups.
According to final campaign finance reports filed last week, independent Sen.- elect Angus King raised $2.8 million in his bid for the seat being vacated by Sen. Olympia Snowe.
Media reports indicate Republican Charlie Summers raised about $1.1 million over the course of the campaign. Democrat Cynthia Dill raised $170,600 for the cycle.
