TOPSHAM
A Topsham woman was hospitalized Friday after a two-vehicle crash at Meadow and Meadow Cross roads.
Topsham police Sgt. Robert Ramsay said Harold McManus, 80, of Topsham was stopped at the intersection in a 2001 Dodge pickup and didn’t see a 2000 GMC pickup driven northbound on Meadow Road by Shelley Brewster, 37, of Topsham. He entered the intersection, broad-siding the GMC.
Brewster was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Her 12-year-old son, a passenger, was not injured. McManus was not injured. Ramsay said no charges were filed.
Topsham police responded to four other crashes Friday — none involving injury — each of which they blamed on icy road conditions.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
