BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Downtown Association will host its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday today from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Town Mall on Maine Street.
This year’s holiday tree is a Norway spruce that was planted in the spring to replace last year’s temporary tree and will be decorated with LED lights with the assistance of Tim Vail of Vail’s Tree Service. The 24- foot tree is located northwest of the gazebo, across from Elm Street on the Town Mall.
The public is invited to join neighbors and friends at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. There will be horse and carriage rides, a community sing-along and hot chocolate and cookies. With a visit from Santa and Frosty the Snowman, the evening is bound to be a delight for all, a news release said.
The Village Improvement Association, with help from the BDA, provides decorations for the tree. In addition, the BDA sponsors the holiday lighting and adornments that are displayed along Maine Street. These are funded solely through private donations.
Individuals and/or businesses wishing to contribute to the holiday decoration fund can make a tax-deductible donation by mailing a check to BDA at P.O. Box 15, Brunswick, ME 04011.
