WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Williams College women’s basketball team (2-0) overcame 18 turnovers and turned back the University of New England (1-1) 55-49 on Sunday to win its own Williams Tip-Off Tournament.
Kelly Coleman (12 points) and Michaela Flanagan (11) both netted double figures for UNE and Beth Suggs of Bath registered a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with eight points. Shooting just 26.9-percent from the floor on the day hurt the Nor’easters.
Seniors Grace Rehnquist (19) and Claire Baecher (14) of Brunswick were the top Eph scorers. Williams was only slightly better from the floor, making just 36.4-percent of its field goal attempts. Baecher also had seven rebounds and six blocked shots
Both Suggs and Baecher were named to the All-Tournament team.
