‘Peabody Pew’ holiday classic

The Buxton-Hollis Dorcas Society is sponsoring its annual production of the holiday classic “The Old Peabody Pew” at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Tory Hill Church, intersection of routes 202 and 112, in Buxton Kate Douglas Wiggin wrote the romantic play that has become a classic at the Buxton church.

This year marks the 149th performance of the play.

Tickets are $5; $2.50 for children under age 12.

Veterans Day ceremony at BEHS

Students and staff at Bonny Eagle High School recently observed Veterans Day in a ceremony with patriotic music.

Student Council President Rachel Litif, who introduced the groups, welcomed those attending. She spoke about the importance of Veterans Day.

During the ceremony, the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, NJROTC, performed the flag folding ceremony and laid the wreath at the Vietnam Memorial outside in front of the school.

The band, jazz band and chorus performed. The chorus sang the “American Anthem,” arranged by John Purifoy. The band played “Stars and Stripes Forever,” by John Phillip Sousa. The Jazz Band played “Amber Waves,” arranged by Larry Norred.
