
Ten soccer teams from central and southern Maine competed against each other for the competition awards. The BEARS competition team, consisting of Matthew Durrell, Michael O’Connell, Jennell Edson, Nicole Ruest, Dana Albright, Mitch Pfeifle and Heather Desjardins, took fifth place.
Nancy Scott and Robert Knox took first place in the skills competition. Those taking second- and third-place medals included Andrew Harvey, Arthur Theriault and Sam Eberhart.
The team wore new uniforms for the event and publicly thanks J.P. Jones, a Spindleworks artist, for designing the BEARS logo.
The BBAASO BEARS team is open to any athletes with intellectual disabilities from the Topsham, Brunswick or Bath area.
