The Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Office has reported several accidents caused by deer in the roadway recently.

On Nov. 7 in Alna, Lacy Babineau, 27, of Wiscasset was operating her 2003 Ford Explorer northbound on Alna Road, police said, when she crested a hill and tried to avoid a deer but struck it.

Another Wiscasset resident struck a deer the same day on U.S. Route 1 in Edgecomb, police said. Paula J. Hersom, 49, was operating her 2006 Ford Escape southbound when a deer ran in front of her. The deer was hit, causing front passenger-side damage, police said.

Neither Babineau nor Hersom was injured.

Deputies also saw car-deer accidents on Waldoboro Road in Bremen and Bunker Hill Road in Jefferson last week.

In another case, Brian D. Carver, 33, of Wiscasset, faces a charge of illegal attachment of plates. The summons was issued Nov. 7, on Adams Pond Road in Boothbay.
