CARIBOU (AP) — An 8- year-old Caribou girl had to be flown all the way to a Portland hospital after she suffered severe burns when her clothing caught fire.

State Fire Marshal Tom Lowell says the girl was injured at her home sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Lowell tells the Bangor Daily News the girl was taken to Cary Medical Center in Caribou before being flown to the Maine Medical Center burns unit in Portland.
