BIDDEFORD — After falling behind early, the fourth-seeded University of New England field hockey team scored the last four goals to move on in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason with a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Anna Maria College on Wednesday at a windchilled Big Blue Turf.

The Nor’easters (11-9) next head to top-seeded Bridgewater State University for the first of two semifinal matches on Saturday. Game time is set for noon.

The Amcats’ year comes to an end with an overall mark of 14-8.

Brittany Liptak struck for a pair of goals to lead UNE, including what proved to be the game-winner with just over 12 minutes left in the opening half.

Anna Maria got on the board first with 7:03 gone when senior Marybeth McClune tallied her teamleading 20th marker of the season off a rebound at the left post.

Laura Egounis answered for UNE in the 16th minute, with an assist each going to Hayley LaPointe of Topsham and Emily Koehler.

Liptak tipped in a LaPointe shot for a 2-1 halftime lead.
