HARPSWELL — In a close two-way race for the House District 64 seat, Democrat Jeremy Saxton of Harpswell, ousted incumbent Republican Kimberly Nichols Olsen of Phippsburg, by 407 votes.
Saxton is a small businessman who works with his family at the Dolphin Restaurant and Marina. “I am humbled to have been elected to represent House District 64,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Olsen, who runs a residential home building business with her husband, served one term. In an email to The Times Record, she thanked voters for the opportunity to serve:
“The path to prosperity, for Maine, is not paved with campaign rhetoric and empty promises, but with tough decisions that separate need from want. Serving the community is not a task for the weak of spirit, and I truly wish Mr. Saxton the best of luck in navigating this tough road.”
Both ran unopposed in their respective primaries to represent the fishing communities of Harpswell, coastal West Bath and Phippsburg.
