DURHAM — Members of the Durham Congregational Church walked to raise money for local heating fuel assistance Oct. 21.

Thirteen adults walked, raising $1,751. Organizer Bettie D. Kettell said half of donated proceeds will go to the town fuel assistance program.

The town currently has funds to purchase 100 gallons of fuel. Last year, 10 families were served, Kettell said. The goal is to have $5,000 in that fund this year, she said.

Donations may be made to First Congregational Church with a note for fuel assistance. Mail to the church, 773 Royalsborough Road, Durham 04222.
