WISCASSET — Shaw’s will host a stuff-the-truck event 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, to help fill the shelves of the St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf food pantry.
Donations are welcomed. If unable to donate items, money is always welcome. At Good Shepherd Food Bank, a pound of food costs 16 cents, so a little money is able to generate a great deal of nutritious food for the Pantry’s clients.
St. Philip’s officials said they are “tremendously thankful for the support Shaw’s of Wiscasset has shown.”
The Help Yourself Shelf at St. Philip’s Church on Hodge Street is open to any and all in need. Food is selected every Thursday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. People are encouraged to arrive by 4:30 to sign in.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
