Police have recovered a gun that was reported stolen from a Front Street residence, Lt. Stanley Cielinski said Monday.
At 8:33 p.m. last Friday, police received a report of a burglary at the home. A family had been away, Cielinski said, and returned home to find evidence of a burglary.
Among the items missing was a 22-caliber, nine-shot revolver, Cielinski said. The gun was not loaded, he said.
“It was recovered later Friday,” Cielinski said. “Someone found it at the boat launch.”
The family had come home to a mess, Cielinski said.
“They went through the house,” he said. “They ate food, stole alcohol and made a mess of the place.”
Theft of a gun is a felony, Cielinski said.
