PORTLAND — Portland Ovations brings Grammy Award-winning and legendary musician/songwriter Glen Campbell to Merrill Auditorium for a special concert as part of his Goodbye Tour on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m.
A news release describes Campbell as “pure talent and southern charm,” adding Campbell’s biggest hits came in the 1960s and ’70s with “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Gentle on My Mind,” “Southern Nights” and, of course, “Rhinestone Cowboy.”
Announcing he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Campbell decided to forge ahead with both the tour and his final studio album, “Ghost on the Canvas,” which has been greeted with unprecedented critical acclaim, the release continues. This special and historical concert is a celebration of his extraordinary five-decadeplus career. Campbell is joined by his daughter’s band, Victoria Ghost, who will open the evening.
Tickets range from $41 to $59 for Portland Ovations members and $45 to $65 for the general public.
