On Saturday, Oct. 13, Marshall will present a painting demonstration and discussion of his techniques from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The demonstration and discussion are open to the public and free of charge.
Marshall describes himself in a news release as a “regional painter very conscious of his New England roots.” A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, he spent time in Holland studying the works of 17th-century Dutch painters. His mastery of the art of landscape painting has been unfolding since he moved to Maine 18 years ago. Marshall lives in an area close to mountains where he regularly walks and from which he continuously receives inspiration. His work has been exhibited at galleries in New York, Boston and Portland.
Bayview Gallery has available parking and is wheelchair accessible via the rear entrance.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
