WESTBROOK — The first in a series of Maine USATF cross country meets will begin on Sunday at 2 p.m.
There will be meets at Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook and at Saxl Park in Bangor.
Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with a course walk at 1 p.m. Meet registration is $4 and Maine USATF registration is $15.
Runners 8-and-under will run a 2K, 9-10 and 11-12 run a 3K, 13-14 run a 4K and 15-andolder run a 5K.
Ribbons are awarded to the top-six in each age group and participant ribbons will be pressented to all others. Meets will be held each Sunday across the state, with the state championships to be held on Nov. 4 at Cony High School in Augusta.
Runners from the state championship will qualify for the Region I Championship to be held at Long Island, N.Y., on Nov. 18.
