BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School boys soccer teams entertained rival Mt. Ararat Middle School on Monday.
The eighth-grade match ended in a scoreless tie.
Brunswick keeper Josh Dorr came away with 20 saves, while Kyle Heatley, Sawyer Nicholson, Chris Duffek and Cam Godbout were defensive standouts.
In the midfield, Evan Guerneli, Taylor Worthington and Lincoln Sullivan were tireless, while Chris Glover, Carlisle Boyle and Olu Vaughan played well up front.
The host Huskies won the seventh-grade match 1-0 on a goal by leading scorer Michael Deveaux on a rebound of a blast from Tobyn Blatt as Deveaux punched the ball into the top right corner of the net.
Center back Henry Doherty, attacking midfielder Max Grammins and keeper Jared Hummer stood out in the win.
Brunswick’s back line of Griffin Vanniel, Julian Abbott and Nathan Harrower, along with midfielder Alex Small, also stood out.
Gavin Patterson was a game-long threat for the Eagles.
On Thursday, the Huskies are scheduled to visit powerhouse Lewiston.
