DOVER-FOXCROFT (AP) — A mother of 13 offered a friend $3,000 to $10,000 to kill her husband of 30 years, according to a police affidavit released Thursday.
Wendy Farley, 46, of Brownville, was charged Tuesday with criminal solicitation for murder.
She entered no plea at her initial court appearance Thursday in Piscataquis County Superior Court in Dover-Foxcroft. She was represented by a public defender on Thursday, but has not hired a lawyer. A judge reduced her bail from $75,000 to $10,000 cash.
An affidavit signed by Brownville Police Chief Nick Clukey said Farley told a friend, Michael Anderson of Milo, that she wanted her husband dead by the end of the month, the Bangor Daily News reported.
Anderson instead went to police and later recorded a conversation with Farley before police arrested her.
Anderson told WABI-TV that he didn’t think Farley was serious until she repeatedly asked him day after day, sometimes twice a day, to kill her husband. She didn’t offer a reason for wanting him dead, Anderson said.
