ROCKLAND — The Brunswick High School girls jayvee Orange soccer squad traveled to Rockland and took on the Oceanside squad Monday night, coming away with a 1-1 tie.
“The result was significant for Brunswick as jayvee Orange hasn’t fared well against Oceanside in past meetings,” said Brunswick coach Joe Bradbury.
The game was evenly matched, with Oceanside scoring late in the first half and Brunswick equalizing midway through the second half, with Molly Gramins scoring on a Gloria Nixon assist.
Oceanside mounted a late surge, but the defensive line of Brunswick held strong with notable performances by Courtney Cox and Sarah Dorval.
Sydney Kay was a standout in the net, with aggressive play coming off her line to turn away one-on-one situations.
Jayvee Orange’s next game is Monday at Freeport.
