NEW YORK (AP) — Women’s magazine Cosmopolitan on Tuesday named Joanna Coles as editor-in-chief of its U.S. edition, as Kate White steps down from the post after 14 years with the company.

White, who will remain with Hearst Magazines as an adviser, has decided to concentrate more on her writing and speaking career, Hearst Magazines President David Carey said Tuesday.

The 50-year-old Coles has served as editor-in-chief of Marie Claire since 2006.
