AUGUSTA (AP) — Central Maine Power has reached the 2,000 mark when it comes to poles and structures installed under the Maine Power Reliability Program.

CMP says the 2,000th structure set this month was a 120- foot, weathering-steel structure that supports a 345,000- volt transmission line in Lewiston. Spokesman John Carroll says that by the time the project is completed, there will be 5,000 new polls and structures.

CMP and its parent company Iberdrola USA have invested more than $500 million upgrading its grid.
