BRUNSWICK — Merrymeeting Adult Education held a graduation ceremony for 12 Certified Nursing Assistant students on Aug. 21 at Maine Region 10 Technical High School.
CNA instructors Roberta Lucas and Mary Evan, both registered nurses, along with Michael Myers of Merrymeeting Adult Education, presented the graduates with state of Maine CNA Certificates, CNA pins and flowers.
The ceremony was attended by more than 50 friends and family of the graduates. The CNA students that graduated are Cassaundra Bailey, Courtney Basinet, Michael Canwell, Nicole Chase, Sandra- Anne Cronin, Sarah Davis, Leslie Tatiana Deforest, Lisa Eaton, Kayla Emerson, Katherine Farrar, Deserae Fortin and Kristin Stanhope.
The graduates completed a 180-hour course and passed a state skills and knowledge test. The graduates are now eligible to work at nursing homes, hospitals and home health agencies where they can assist patients with activities of daily living and provide bedside care under the supervision of a register nurse.
The next CNA class is scheduled to start on Sept.10.
