WOOLWICH
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 Friday afternoon that sent both drivers to the hospital.
The crash was reported at 2:40 p.m. Chief Deputy Brett Strout said Jane Miller, 78, of Wellesley, Mass., was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry and had stopped at the intersection of George Wright Road and Route 1. A 1994 GMC pickup truck driven by Lester Morse Jr., 49, of Dresden was traveling north on Route 1 when Strout said Miller pulled out into Morse’s path.
Both Miller and Morse were transported to Mid Coast Hospital where Morse was treated and released. Miller was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she was listed in satisfactory condition today according to a hospital spokesperson. Both vehicles involved were towed. Strout said today he doesn’t believe charges will be issued. The case was handled by Deputy Al Huntington. Also responding was the Woolwich Fire Department, Woolwich EMS and North East Mobile Health Services.
