MONROE (AP) — Police say a Fairfield man has died in a motorcycle crash.
Officers say 65-year-old John Williams was driving north on Route 141 at about 2 p.m. Tuesday when he came to the intersection of Route 139 in Monroe, locked his brakes and lost control.
Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff ’s Office says Williams came off the bike and was killed instantly.
Williams was not wearing a helmet.
Police tells the Bangor Daily News that Williams may not have been familiar with the area and did not realize he was heading into an intersection because of the way he locked his brakes.
