To the editor:
That’s what outer Pleasant Street is in Brunswick. Just last week we had two accidents within two days. One was quite serious. If records are checked, I believe you will find a high accident rate on this street.
When are we going to do something about this? Speed, no signs for no left-hand turns, are all the causes for these accidents.
We built a connector to help eliminate heavy traffic on Pleasant Street. Has it worked? No. Because there is no sign on I-295 to encourage the use of the connector. If it’s due to the business on this street, I don’t believe the people travel on this street to do business. It’s a gateway to Bath and the working people to Portland.
Also, to get onto Pleasant Street from the side streets is almost impossible due to the setting of the lights at River Road and Church Road. I’ve waited as long as 20 minutes to get out of my street.
Come on, give us a break. Save a life, do something about this street before someone is killed.
