To the editor:

On this morning’s news, the horror once again of a human taking multiple other human lives, in what read out to be another nightmare of our culture. I am, first a combat veteran, a hunter and outdoor enthusiast, and as such — I feel obligated to write this letter.

I firmly believe in the right to bear arms and I also don’t believe that any politician or any American president has any notion of forbidding these rights. That said, I feel strongly that somebody in government should step out and up and say something about the allowed sales of weapons which are not permitted in forest or field for any sports or food gathering, in I am told, any state in this country. The only purpose for an assault weapon is to deliver terrific death and bodily harm to humans.

In story after story on the news and in newspapers, police commissioners, FBI senior officers and city managers and mayors have stated time after time, that their personnel and cities would be far safer without random people being able to carry an assault weapon into a shopping mall or other places, and open fire on innocent citizens.

Please consider writing a congressman or senator, tell — don’t ask — for them to responsibly assess the facts about assault weapons.
