ROCKLAND — The 11th Annual Lobster Ride & Roll, sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will take place on Saturday at Oceanside High School.

Staggered start times begin at 8 a.m. The ride has four distance options — 16, 30, 50 and 100 miles. The 100-mile route has been named one of the top 10 Century Rides in the country by Bicycling Magazine.

The rides feature terrific scenery, festivities and a celebratory lobster roll feast at the end of the ride. Rest stops, healthy snacks and support vehicles are available along all routes.

This unique event is suitable for families, teams, casual bikers and competitive cyclists alike.

After the ride, bikers will enjoy a fresh Maine lobster roll lunch, with vegetarian and tuna options available. Live footage of the Tour de France will play on a big screen during lunch. Registrants receive the famous Lobster Ride bike socks and free admission to local museums.

Race day registration will start at 7 a.m. at Oceanside High School. The cost is $75 (members) and $95 (public rate, including a six-month trial membership in the Bicycle Coalition of Maine).

There is a $10 discount for seniors (over 65). Children ages 12-17 ride for $35, and children 11 and under ride free. All proceeds benefit the Coalition’s work to improve bicycling in Maine.
