PORTLAND — Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Victoria Mansion and PORTopera will present an evening of “Opera at the Mansion” — in advance of PORTopera’s summer mainstage production, Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”
The soiree takes place at Victoria Mansion, 109 Danforth St., and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and performances on the mansion’s central staircase by PORTopera guest singers Eliza Bonet, John McVeigh, Robert E. Mellon and Solomon Howard from “Madama Butterfly.”
Tickets for the event cost $75 per person, and proceeds benefit Victoria Mansion and PORTopera. To reserve tickets, call 772-4841 extension 810. Tickets are limited.
“Madama Butterfly” is scheduled for July 25 and 27 at Merrill Auditorium. For more information, visit www.portopera.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
