HARPSWELL — Sukanya Rahman will exhibit her recent works on paper at the Gun Point Cove Gallery, 1241 Harpswell Islands Road, Orr’s Island, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 8.
“Her mixed media constructions and digital works draw inspiration from Indian street art, popular American art, and the vibrancy and flavors of Mexico,” a release about the exhibit states. “The materials incorporated into her works are primarily handmade wood bark paper, silk paper and handloom khadi paper.”
A resident of Orr’s Island, Rahman was born in Calcutta. India. She studied painting at the École Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris, studied dance with Martha Graham in New York, and wrote a memoir, “Dancing in The Family,” which tells the story of three generations of her Indian classical dance family.
