WESTBROOK — Hot Tuna, made up of bassist Jack Casady and guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, will perform an acoustic concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center.
Mandolinist Barry Mitterhoff will accompany Hot Tuna. Darol Anger and Emy Phelps, former Portland residents, will open for Hot Tuna.
In the late 1960s, as members of the band Jefferson Airplane, Kaukonen and Casady decided to form a roots-oriented side project to keep busy when the Airplane was not touring. That “side project,” Hot Tuna, “has endured longer than almost every group of their era,” a release about Thursday’s concert states.
Hot Tuna recently released its first studio album in 20 years, “Steady As She Goes,” produced by Larry Campell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Tickets cost $38 and are available online at www.HeptunesConcerts.com.
