“Skidompha’s Novel Jazz evenings were conceived around the observation that lovers of books often are lovers of jazz,” a release from the septet states. “Moreover, the superb acoustics of Skidompha’s atrium, plus the seating ‘in the round,’ make it a great place to see and hear the performance, all in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.”
Vocalist Tracey MacLean, a professional jazz vocalist for more than 30 years, will accompany the ensemble on June 28.
Novel Jazz Septet members include Barney Balch (trombone), Herb Maine (acoustic bass), Mickey Felder (piano), Bruce Boege (saxophone) and Billy Friederich (drums).
Admission is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for young adults between 12 and 18 years old, and free for attendees younger than 12 if accompanied by a parent.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
