To the editor:
Democrats in Maine House District 62 have a primary election coming up on June 12.
Mike Clarke is not running for re-election, and there are two individuals vying for a place on the ballot to replace him. While both present a strong case why they should be the Democratic candidate in the November election, I think that Jennifer DeChant is the one who will best represent Bath in the state Legislature.
Jennifer’s background ensures that Bath would have a strong, experienced voice from her first day in Augusta.
Active in the community, DeChant has impressed me as a good listener who can balance her views with the opinion of others and clearly communicate her position on issues. She also understands the local economy and knows that programs and policies that support the development of good paying jobs for Maine workers will strengthen Bath.
The challenges of Augusta these days require someone with a forceful yet civil voice. It is increasingly obvious that we need to balance the extreme rhetoric of the current administration with reason so that, as Mainers, we can move forward together.
Jennifer DeChant has that voice.
