BATH
Residents of the five communities that make up Regional School Unit 1 will have an opportunity at a town meeting-style hearing beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bath Middle School to discuss a proposed $26 million school budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
RSU 1 provides public education to students in Arrowsic, Bath, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich.
On May 15, the RSU 1 board voted unanimously to approve the proposed budget, restoring funding for the district’s pre-kindergarten program, a soccer program at Woolwich Central School, and reducing the projected increase in each town’s education contribution.
A district-wide referendum on June 12 determine the fate of the proposed 2012-13 budget.
The proposed 2012-2013 budget and supporting documents can be viewed online at http://www.rsu1.org/departments/ business_ office/r_ s_ u1 _budget/.
