YARMOUTH — Sawyer Williams tossed a six-hitter and Freeport High School rolled to a 7-0 Western Maine Conference baseball win over Yarmouth on Wednesday.
Williams struck out one and walked two as the Falcons improved to 10-4 and are scheduled to host Fryeburg Academy on Friday.
Josh Weirich led Freeport with two singles and two RBIs, while Niko DiFazio had two singles and two runs scored, and Connor Dietrich and Kaleb Farmer a double each.
In a five-run sixth inning, Williams had a key bunt to load the bases, while Jared Knighton had an RBI single, Dietrich a bases-loaded walk and Weirich a run-scoring fielder’s choice.
Shortstop Dietrich played well defensively and started a sixth-inning double play which squashed a Yarmouth rally.
Cal Cooper had two singles for Yarmouth.

A combination of solid Eddies pitching and four fielding errors cost the Eagles in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference contest in Topsham.
EL’s (8-7) Nate Pushard tossed a two-hit shutout, with 10 strikeouts and one walk. Josh DeLong knocked in two runs with a seventh-inning triple and Nate Blais singled twice.
Mt. Ararat (3-11) pitcher Torrey Charnock allowed just four hits and three earned runs in his complete-game effort. Charnock struck out six, walked two and hit two batters.
Ryan Lathrop and Brendon Glass each singled for the Eagles, who visit Oxford Hills on Friday.
