TOPSHAM — In addition to reviewing a site sketch plan for a proposal to convert the former Amenity Manor on Elm Street to rental units, the Topsham Planning Board on Tuesday will hold a public hearing today on an application by Steve Alexander for an amended site plan and conditional use permit to operate a mobile food cart at a fixed location at 65 Topsham Fair Mall Road.
Alexander seeks to set up a small hot dog stand with a fold-out umbrella. Because zoning rules treat the stand as a fast food restaurant use, Alexander’s proposal requires a conditional use permit.
The board also intends to hold a workshop on conditional use standards.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the municipal building, located at 100 Main St.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
