ARUNDEL (AP) — A 2 / month old baby boy police say was assaulted by his own father has died.
State police say Ethan Henderson died shortly after midnight today at Maine Medical Center in Portland after being taken off life support.
The boy’s father, 23-yearold Gordon Collins-Faunce of Arundel, is charged with aggravated assault.
Police say the death is now considered a homicide and charges are likely to be upgraded. The Maine Attorney General’s Office is expected to make that decision later today.
The baby was hospitalized Saturday with what authorities described as severe head injuries after he was found unresponsive at his home by other family members.
Collins-Faunce was arrested Sunday evening, and he entered no plea during his initial court appearance on Monday when he was held on $100,000 bond.
