AUGUSTA (AP) — Democratic and Republican candidates for Maine’s open U.S. Senate seat will participate in separate public forums.
Today, the Sagadahoc Democratic Candidates Forum will be held at the Topsham Municipal Building. Organizers say all four candidates, Cynthia Dill, Matthew Dunlap, Jon Hinck and Benjamin Pollard, will attend.
At least three Republican candidates for the Senate seat have signed up for a forum, also this evening, at the Bangor Baptist Church.
That event is sponsored by the Christian Civic League of Maine, Concerned Women for America, and Maine Right to Life.
Candidates Rick Bennett, Scott D’Amboise, Bruce Poliquin, Debra Plowman and Charlie Summers have agreed to attend. Two other Republicans are also seeking the GOP Senate nomination.
The race also features independent candidates.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
