SCARBOROUGH – Steven Langlais, 51, of New Gloucester, died after kayaking off Higgins Beach in Scarborough last Saturday.

According to media reports, Langlais was found about a half-mile off shore by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.

Maine Marine Patrol rescued Langlais’ body after an extensive search and he was transported to Maine Medical Center by Scarborough Rescue.

The cause of death has yet to be determined. Marine Patrol Sgt. Dan White is leading the investigation.
